I was really fortunate with Fiona to not have many trouble spots. Most of the time was actually spent on how the legs should look (ie- realistic, comical, standing, sitting, etc.). So in the end the easiest way won out and sitting “vogue” style won out. Thus the reason for also having to put long eyelashes and “eyeliner”, as one viewer put it, on her eyes. My DH actually thinks that her feathers look like a type for fur/feathered stole. So Fashion Diva Fiona the Flamingo is finished and here are her glamour shots!
Well Fiona is looking great and I ALWAYS have something negative to say about the critters that I design but I think she’s going to be one of my fav’s!!! Her feathers and lower beak were attached last night. I started working on her legs but the hour was too late to finish. She should be finished for tomorrow “unveiling” though. Thanks for all of your comments on her progress, they’re always fun to see!!!
In an effort the keep things interesting, I ventured really far to see if I could create a camel. I wanted the knobby knees, a defined mouth and wanted her to stand on her own. Well she definitely has character and a sweet demeanor and I’m very pleased with my latest addition to the “abstract jungle” of critters. To purchase her pattern click buy now and it will transfer you to my ravelry site for Camille. She’s walked over many miles of desert to be a part of your menagerie.
This guy didn’t take as long to make as I thought but halfway through, I was really worried that he was even going to look like an elephant!!! He’s approx. 11″ long and 6 1/2″ tall and using Red Heart Homespun yarn in “Purple Haze” totally makes him!!! He’s still a baby so he doesn’t have tusks but if you’re wanting to purchase the pattern, visit my ravelry site and you can buy now. I welcome all comments and ideas on new “critters” to make. My DH has now deemed this as his favorite “critter” to date!!!
Loving ladybug was created for a coworker who needed something for an infant. So therefore, she has no removable parts, etc. And because it was so close to Valentine’s day I had to put a heart on her wings and for her lips. The pattern can be purchased on my ravelry site at buy now. She’ll just flutter into your loved ones heart!
A friend gave me this variagated yarn in fuschia, yellow and orange and I had no clue what to make of it. I knew I wanted to make a lion thought that it would make a fantastic mane using the loop stitch. My Mom and I always embroider things in the colors that we prefer Mom (pastels), me (jewel tones) and have always made the animals in the colors we like too and years ago called it the Abstract Jungle. This pattern for “King of the Abstract Jungle” should go up on my ravelry site at the end of this week.
Back in December I needed to make two monkeys for a co-worker for Christmas presents…didn’t have a pattern, was too frugle to buy one, etc. So I just started crocheting and this is what I came up with….I’ll post the Baby Brown Monkey pattern in late January. The banana is from a KTB Designs book on etsy.com and it totally makes the whole thing!!! I even gave him a belly button! The signature “TBC unraveled” look for him is on top of his little head. He’ll grown into his ears someday I’m sure. His main purpose right now is the LOVE for his banana that is ALL his. =)
